Non-surgical hair care is the part of this field with the most on offer and the least agreement. The fastest way to understand how this practice treats it is to hear what it declines to do, and why.

The whole non-surgical list fits on one tray, with room to spare. That is the point.

Platelet-rich plasma

Not offered. Dr. Alexander’s position on it is unambiguous, and he has no financial reason to hold it — PRP is one of the most profitable add-ons in the category.

Mesotherapy

Not offered. Same reasoning: it is widely sold, and he does not consider the case for it strong enough to put in front of a patient.

You can find both within a few miles of this office. That is precisely the point: a practice that sells everything has told you nothing about what works. A practice that declines the profitable thing has told you something.

What is offered

Physician-supervised, and deliberately short.

Medical management

The established, evidence-backed medical options for androgenetic hair loss are discussed at the exam, prescribed where they are appropriate, and monitored. What suits one person is not what suits another, which is why this is a conversation with a physician rather than a product on a page.

Low-level laser therapy

Laser devices for androgenetic alopecia are FDA-cleared Class II devices — cleared, which is a different and lower bar than approved, and worth knowing before anyone quotes it at you. It supports follicles that are still active. It does not restore follicles that are gone.

Nothing on this page is a prescription or a recommendation. What is appropriate is decided in an examination, by a physician, for one person at a time.

The honest limit

Medical therapy protects. It does not rebuild.

This is the sentence most of the category avoids. Medical management works on follicles that are still alive — it can hold a line and thicken what is thinning. It cannot put density back where the follicle is no longer there. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling the wrong thing to the wrong person.

Which is why the exam comes first, and why it is the same exam either way. If medical management is the right move, that is what is recommended, and surgery is not raised. If it is not, you will be told that directly.
